Maven Pro is a FREE sans-serif typeface with unique curvature and flowing rhythm. Here, you can follow the progress of the typeface and offer support, request additional glyphs, or just say hello. Periodically, new weights will be released - if you would like to receive an email notification, please sign up. Updates to certain glyphs and kerning values that have been changed will also be listed. Created With: Adobe Illustrator, FontLab Studio & a Pencil. This sans-serif typeface was designed in late 2010 by designer Joe Prince, courtesy of Vissol Ltd. It was part of a small, on-going project that quickly led into something great. Maven Pro's unique curvature and modern forms make it very distinguishable and unique when in context. It blends styles of many great typefaces and is suitable for any design medium. The best part about Maven Pro... it's 100% FREE!
Maven Pro has an extensive collection of characters that totals over 530 glyphs! There are many languages it supports (too many to list) including basic Latin and western European diacritics. The vast number of glyphs make it highly usable for just about any text content; spreadsheets, word documents, and especially websites. The typeface is also great for printed collateral and can scale down very small while still maintaining legibility.
So all the characters are designed and created, now what? Each glyph needs to be imported into a font-creation program - we use FontLab Studio 5. It is one of the industries leading font software program and is used by many professionals. In order to turn it into a working font, just placing the glyphs in FL5 doesn't mean the project is finished. There are many adjustments that need to be made with spacing between pairs of characters, which are called kerning values. Kerning is an extremely tedious process that requires a watchful eye and can literally make or break the typeface. The more kerning pairs included, the better it will appear optically. Maven Pro has over 6,500 kerning pairs to ensure maximum spacing accuracy.
